Monthly marketing director · marketing leadership, month to month

A marketing director for your business, without the salary.

I set the strategy, choose the tools and the people, manage the work, and report on what it did. You get the function of a marketing department for a fraction of what one costs.

Most owner-operated businesses don’t need a marketing team. They need someone deciding.

The reason marketing stalls at your size usually isn’t execution. You can hire execution. It’s that nobody senior is deciding what gets executed, in what order, and whether last month’s spend earned its place.

That’s the job I do. I’ve spent more than 20 years in web design and marketing, a good part of it inside the marketing departments of large corporations, learning how companies with real budgets decide where to spend and how they know whether it worked.

I bring that to a business your size, part time, for as long as you need it.

What I actually do each month

01

Research your market, your customers, and your competitors, and keep that picture current

02

Own the marketing strategy and revise it as the numbers come in

03

Decide which channels get budget this quarter and which ones wait

04

Find, vet, and hire the specialists you need, and check their work before it reaches you

05

Manage the vendors you already have, and hold them to a standard

06

Track results and report them in a language you can act on

How it works

01 —

We start with an assessment so I’m working from facts rather than assumptions

If you’ve already had one, we skip this.

02 —

I write the plan

Channels, sequence, budget, and who does each piece.

03 —

We meet monthly

I run the plan between meetings and send you a report showing what was done and what it earned.

Who this is for

You have revenue and want more of it, but no one on staff whose job is marketing. You’re making these decisions yourself, between everything else, and you know it isn’t your strongest area.

It’s a poor fit if you want someone to take orders. I’m most useful when I get to disagree with you occasionally.

Cost

$800/mo 10 hours of work per month.
$1,600/mo 20 hours of work per month.

Billed monthly. Ten-hour minimum. No annual commitment.

Common questions

Do you do the work, or just manage it?

Both, depending on what it is. SEO content, backlinks, social, and websites I do myself. Anything outside that, I find the right person and supervise them.

Is ten hours a month enough to matter?

For most businesses under a few million in revenue, yes. Ten focused hours of direction beats forty unfocused ones. If it isn’t enough, I’ll tell you.

Can I stop?

Month to month, 30 days notice. Some clients use me for two quarters to get set up and then run it themselves.

Let’s talk about your marketing.

Twenty minutes, no pitch. Tell me what you’re working on and I’ll tell you what I’d prioritize.
