I found that using Google Gemini 2.5 with Deep Research can create a great, comprehensive marketing strategy.
As with everything else in AI, it takes a solid effort in the setup process of giving it context and crafting the prompt before asking it to create the output.
In this example, we’ll use AI to do the following steps:
1) Do deep research on the market.
2) Ask AI to write a prompt based on the research for a comprehensive marketing strategy.
3) Enter the prompt and deep research for Gemini to create the marketing strategy.
I got this idea originally from Marketing Against the Grain, This AI Marketing Strategy Would Cost You $25K – But It’s FREE and then spent a few days perfecting my version of the prompt.
All In One Pass Or Break Into Sections
In my test, the all-in-one pass did a decent job and was a little faster.
However, when you break the prompting into sections, it seemed to be a little better output, and you get the additional asset of the market research report.
It’s typically always better to break you prompting into sections and have the AI think about it step by step.
Technique #1 – All In One Pass
Note:
- This technique gives you the marketing strategy only.
- Use model Gemini 2.5 Pro.
- Have Deep Research in Gemini turned on.
Prompt
Create a comprehensive marketing strategy for [BRAND], which is a [BRAND DESCRIPTION].
Research the [YOUR GENERAL MARKET DEFINITION] and give me a market summary.
Break this effort into the 3 sections I describe below.
Step 1)
Conduct comprehensive market research on my brand and its industry that will be used in the marketing strategy. Include sections in a market analysis report that you would find in a top-tier marketing research firm that uses best practices.
Step 2)
Then, write a prompt that I can use with a very smart LLM to develop an extensive marketing strategy that uses best practices. It should include sections to define the customer, all the standard campaigns or channels, and guidelines on how to write messaging to the types of customers. Use the findings in your market research and marketing strategy best practices to write this prompt. Write the prompt.
Step 3)
Use the prompt you just created to write the marketing strategy.
Make the output use headings and subheadings, so I can export it to Google Docs.
Break it into clearly defined sections so I can easily find various parts when concluding marketing.
Include examples when possible.
Export Deliverable
At the top of the page is a button that says “Export to Docs”. Click this to create a Google Doc that can then be fine-tuned, formatted, and presented to stakeholders.
Technique #2 – Break Into Sections
Note:
- This technique gives you an extensive market analysis report and a marketing strategy.
- You can specify specific elements that you want in the marketing strategy.
- Use model Gemini 2.5 Pro.
- Have Deep Research in Gemini turned on.
Prompt 1 – Research
Conduct comprehensive market research on my brand and its industry that will be used in the marketing strategy. Include sections in a market analysis report that you would find in a top-tier marketing research firm that uses best practices.
This market research report will be for [BRAND], which is a [BRAND DESCRIPTION].
Research the [YOUR GENERAL MARKET DEFINITION] and give me a comprehensive market research report.
Prompt 2 – Write a Great Prompt
Help me write a prompt for developing a comprehensive marketing strategy for [BRAND], which is a [BRAND DESCRIPTION].
This prompt is for a smart LLM to use the market analysis to write a comprehensive marketing strategy. The prompt should define all the sections found in a market strategy from a top-tier marketing research firm that uses best practices. It can also include sections that are relevant to this particular market.
Use the research you have already collected in the market research report
I want the prompt to make sure the output is readable and easy to comprehend for the marketer who will be using it.
Explain how the output should use headings and subheadings, so I can export it to Google Docs.
Explain how takeaways should stand out for people who only skim the strategy.
Explain how I want an extensive section for the marketing channels. Marketing channels should be its own first-level section. Go into detail on each channel to include attributes like goals, brand voice guidelines, list of assets needed, details of what’s in each asset, timing guidelines of publishing the assets and any other detail needed for a marketer to build out that channel’s marketing plan.
Give me the prompt.
Prompt 3 – Enter The Prompt AI Wrote
Ok, great. Now do this:
[PAST THE PROMPT IT GAVE YOU HERE]
Click the Share button and Export to Doc.
In Summary
That should generate a very complete marketing strategy.
I recommend you also export the initial market research report it generated as well.
With these two items, you can start to build out a detailed marketing plan for each marketing channel, specifying what you will be publishing and when.
